After an awesome intro the first “real” track kicks in, it’s raw Black Metal with a rather catchy riff. It all would have been better with real drums instead of programmed, then the sound overall would have been thicker. So let’s hope for that for the next record because besides that it’s good!
It feels like it’s recorded in a dark cave, at least when it comes to the vocals, its sounds there is a little echo on it. But it’s in a good way, it gives it all a darker feeling.
The variation isn’t that good, but the songs are good anyway. It’s sometimes a little faster, sometimes slower but overall they “float together”, actually that’s not necessary a bad thing because it makes the whole album pretty compact. They contain some really nice and cold riffs and it’s pretty easy to listen to for being this kind of raw Black Metal. All songs are of the same quality, it’s really good but not awesome but I think that the potential is there so Lutemkrat is definitely something to look out for because Wolf Lutemkrat (who is the only person in the band) sure knows how to write quality music.
If you like raw Black Metal you should give this a shot. I also get some folk metal feelings here and there but it isn’t that much (mostly because of the intro and outro probably but also in some of the songs). So it’s a good debut album that is worth listening to.
